BETTER DECISIONS THROUGH GREATER DIVERSITY
This seminar will introduce your board members to the business case and benefits from greater diversity on your board or committee of management.
Prior to holding these seminars, art4u.australia invited CEO’s of arts organisations from around Australia to respond to a survey designed to identify diversity in governance. The results of this survey will be presented along with other research from Australia and around the world.
We will explore how diversity is much more than gender equality. Topics will include –

It is recommended your Chairperson, CEO and one other board member attend as a key reason for having a diverse group of board members is that it sets an example for further diversity in the workforce. As there is a maximum of 50 places at each seminar, attendance is limited to three people per organisation.
Each person attending will take away a complimentary board policy on diversity and a roadmap to future action, that can be adapted for your own board.
Due to the ongoing uncertainty of Covid-19 infections within States, and the risk associated with interstate travel we have made a decision to restrict our physical seminars during the first half of 2021 to Victoria. The physical events scheduled for March in Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong have been rescheduled to the latter half of the year.
Instead we will be offer governance teams an opportunity to (a) purchase an e-book, (b) participate in a Zoom event or (c) subscribe to a series of videos via You Tube. These will be advertised soon.
We believe that in the current era of uncertainty it is preferable to offer arts organisations an option and remove risk for both them and ourselves.

All dates are subject to a return to work environment that permits physical meetings. Venues will be selected based upon their commitment to providing a Coronavirus free environment and all social distancing rules will be adhered to.
In the event of cancellation due to pandemic measures those registered will be contacted provided with a refund of fees paid.
Facilitator for this workshop is John Coxon, founder of art4u.australia John has extensive experience serving on boards and as a manager within the nonprofit sector. John has served on boards in the mental health, adult education and arts sectors. For the past two decades John has guided nonprofit boards through implementing best practice and effective strategic planning. From 2006-2009 John was Executive Officer of Community Southwest, an alliance of nonprofit organisations. From 2011 – 2016 John guided a group of stakeholders through the process of establishing the NZ Jade Artist Society, become a foundation committee member and was responsible for organising a national Jade Artist awards and exhibition in 2014 and 2016. During 2017-18 John was Operations Manager for an Aboriginal Health Care Organisation where he attended board meetings in his capacity as acting CEO. Art4u.australia was established by John in 2019 for the purpose of providing guidance and advice to arts organisations in Australia.

One person – $110. Two persons $190. Three persons $240. All prices exclude GST.
